With more than 30 years of healthcare, business and legal experience, both in-house and in private practice, Mike (“Sherm”) joined the Consensus team on April 24, 2023, as General Counsel. Prior to joining Consensus, Mike served as the Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary for Genesis Healthcare, one of the country’s largest post-acute providers, where his duties included oversight of mergers and acquisitions, government relations and compliance. Mike also served as the executive sponsor of the company’s DEI committee. In addition, Mike worked as a corporate and health care associate in a Philadelphia law firm and served as law clerk to a federal district court judge in Philadelphia.
Mike’s legal experience includes counseling clients on mergers and acquisitions, contracts, joint ventures, healthcare fraud and abuse, litigation management, as well as corporate governance.
Mike is a graduate of The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and earned his Juris Doctor (JD) from Duke University School of Law in 1992. He is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association and the Association of Corporate Counsel and has served as chair of the Michael R. Walker Foundation, a nonprofit emergency relief organization that provides grants and other resources to health care workers whose financial situations have been impacted by medical emergencies, natural disasters, fires, domestic abuse and funeral expenses.
Mike is married with two sons and enjoys fishing, biking and playing quizzo in his free time.
